Casa Manana’s production is so excellent that you half expect to turn around and see the late Country and Western idol at the back of the hall, taking in the show with a smile on her face. But this production, directed by Guy Stroman, isn’t content to stop there. Sally Struthers is a scream as the star-struck Louise. It is a joy to watch any performer who can find the level of comfort Struthers finds in her role, the piece and with the audience. Julie Johnson, who has long been one of the finest musical theatre actresses in this area, is so stunningly wonderful that it would be quite enough just to hear her perform the songs. Don’t miss this show. That would be crazy.”
